  LLANTWIT MAJOR
Stop the clock!

Dr. Jeannette Pugh B.D.S of the Calgary Dental Practice in Llantwit Major is branching out into the field of facial aesthetics by offering her clients injectable anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers for lips and facial lines.

Injectable anti-wrinkle treatments work by causing facial muscles to relax and wrinkles to disappear. They are considered to be one of the safest, most effective treatments on the market. Dermal fillers have become equally popular, because an injection of the gel-like substance enhances the volume of the tissue, thus vanishing ageing nose to mouth lines, restoring a out to lips or even lifting tired eyelids.

Having qualified as a dental surgeon at the Dental School in Cardiff in 1984, Jeannette worked in the City’s dental hospital for a year before moving into general practice. Since 1988 she has worked alongside her husband at their practice in Llantwit Major.

For some time, she has been interested in the field of facial aesthetics and has just completed a series of courses at The Dr Bob Khanna Training Institute in London. Due to his overwhelming success in his field, Dr Khanna, who is the President of the International Academy for Advanced Facial Aesthetics, created the concept of hands on training courses and has trained and lectured many dentists and doctors both in the UK and Internationally.

“I spend my time assessing peoples’ faces so I can see immediately what needs to be done,” said Jeannette. “Dentists also undertake extensive under graduate training in head and neck anatomy and also possess the manual dexterity required to carry out such procedures. We also have the ability to make the areas numb, thus resulting in a pain free procedure.”

Jeannette provides a friendly, cost effective, safe, and successful means to the goal of achieving a new you that others will notice and admire. You can expect your poise and confidence to be enhanced in a way that will make you glad you contacted her.

CORNTOWN

Silver Gilt garden

Despite the mud and the pouring rain that affected the Royal Welsh Show this year, competitors defied the conditions to present top quality blooms and displays that caught the eye of the judges.

None more so than Vale gardener Bob Priddle whose garden to celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy won a Silver Gilt medal. The garden contained a range of plants that are found growing on the Texas prairies and artefacts that are associated with the American West. The poor weather conditions did not help Bob in his preparations. “These plants grow in warm, well drained soil and the constant rain this year has meant that it has been very difficult to provide them with the conditions that they need.” Luckily Bob made use of the greenhouses at Neath Port Talbot College where he is a lecturer. As well as impressing the judges, the garden was the featured garden on HTV’s Grass Roots programme from the Royal Welsh Show. ....................................................................................................................

RHOOSE
Come fly with me!

On Friday August 3rd, the 5,000th seat was booked on the new intra- Wales air service which links the north and south of the country, operated by Highland Airways.

Business development manager Colin Munro said, “I’m amazed at how well the service is doing. When we started we didn’t imagine that 5,000 seats would be sold in just twelve weeks.”

While fares are capped at £50 including taxes/charges, the airline’s decision to offer advance booking bargains from £15 one-way is a major factor in its early success.

Highland Airways was selected by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide the service with a Britishbuilt 19 seat Bae Jetstream 31 turboprop pressurised aircraft. The flight from Anglesey takes less than one hour while Cardiff Airport is 25 minutes from the centre of the capital by road or rail. It has been estimated that 150 cars a day are currently travelling between the two regions with an unpredictable journey time in excess of four hours each way.

Managing Director of Cardiff International Airport Jon Horne praised the service, saying, “We believe that providing a convenient and efficient link between Cardiff and north Wales is an important development for us. As well as serving the business and leisure markets within Wales, this link will provide a gateway to destinations around the globe for travellers from north Wales.”

The company operates five of the sophisticated Jetstream 31’s at present and has experience of passenger services in both Scotland and England. Highland Airways was established in 1991 and is based in Inverness.

New owners for Illtud’s 216

Georg and Einar Fuchs are the proud new owners of the popular Illtud’s 216 restaurant in Llantwit Major.

Georg has had an illustrious career in the catering industry spanning forty two years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the restaurant. He served his apprenticeship in Austria and worked in various departments of the kitchen. Whilst at the Kempinski Four Seasons Hotel in Munich he learnt all there was to know about sourcing good quality meat as in those days commercial kitchens used to buy larger cuts and prepare them themselves.

George and Einar moved to the UK in August 1997 when he became executive chef at the Langham Hilton in London. They have now decided that the time is right to run their own restaurant and have fallen in love with Llantwit Major and Illtud's 216.
