The Christmas Day seven course menu prepared lovingly by the talented brigade includes Amuse Bouche, a choice of Salmon and Crayfish Mousse, Duo of Pigeon and Quail, Pantysgawn and red onion risotto to start, a rasp - berry and orange sorbet to refresh the palate, followed by a choice of roast Glamorgan turkey, roast sirloin of Welsh black beef, fillet of wild sea bass or seasonal vegetable mille fuille.
The choice of desserts include traditional Christmas pudding, Champagne pannacotta or baked chocolate pudding. A selection of cheeses with celery, grapes and apple will then be served, followed by coffee and warm mince pies.
New Year’s Eve
With a superb menu consisting of Amuse Bouche, confit of rabbit samosas, seared king scallops, tarte tatin to start, followed by pan fried medallions of Welsh beef fillet, monkfish tails, open vegetable lasagne for mains and duo of chocolate parfaits and Vodka and lemon crème brulee for dessert followed by cheese and biscuits and coffee and petit fours. There will be dancing and entertainment by the fabulous Maria Holiday well into 2009.

“My wife and I have visited Llantwit Major extensively for over forty years and have enjoyed many meals at the West House during that time. After extensive research we decided to spend our New Year’s Eve celebrations there in 2005 and have returned each year. This December will be our fourth visit on New Year’s Eve. Our group numbers vary from ten to twenty and there will be twelve of us this year.
What appeals to us about West House is that it’s a small, friendly hotel offering excellent value for a formal black tie function. It gives us a chance to dress up which isn’t always the case elsewhere. Our hosts make us very welcome. It's almost become an extension to their family evening celebration.
The food has been excellent from a balanced menu, and the service provided has been of the highest standard and nothing is too much trouble for Mr Christopher and his staff. We’re delighted to hear that Maria Holiday and her husband Tony will provide the entertainment again this year. For anyone who enjoys a sophisticated evening and prefers the formality of a black tie event as we do, then I am sure they would have a thoroughly enjoyable evening. In our group, most members have been eager to re-book each year and will, in all probability, continue to do so. I can’t recommend it highly enough and am looking forward to another thoroughly enjoyable evening.”
