About Me
Im Nathan Phillips professional Quiksilver sponsored surfer, I have been surfing since the age of 11 and learnt to surf on the vale coast , since the age of 16 i have been one of the lucky few in the UK to make a living out of surfing travelling the world getting payed for doing something I love. I have lived in Llantwit Major all my life and now things are slowing down on the professional scence I would love to pass on my skills and knowledge to the people of the Vale and hopefully I get a couple of juniors following in my footsteps.

My life and passion has all been about surfing from a young age I competed all over the world in Hawaii Australia Indonesia and many other exotic places, finishing second in Europe in my junior yrs from then I went on to do promotional trips doing photo shoots for UK and European magazines and surf dvd's. My aim is to get the youth of today off the Playstations and into the sea, hopefully produce a few pro surfers but also get mums dads grans and gramps all standing on a surfboard.

Business activities, products and services
I offer a different range of surf coaching from beginer to advanced, the beginner lessons will be a 2 and a half hour lesson where we go though the basics of paddeling jumping up and surfing staright into the action. For the more intermediate coaching it will be a full day basicall y you drop off your kid for the day. I have access to great facilitys, thanks to Llantwit Major lifeguards, here we will go though surf fitness different techniques, heat drills, then out to the water where I will be coaching one to one and have a video session, where we will watch in Llantwit Major lifeguard hut whilst having dinner and go though good and bad points and how we could improve on the individuals surfing. After lunch and a class room talk it's back on the waves for another video session and photoshoot. at the end of the session they will be given a coaches report the video footage to take with them to work on their skills and improve their surfing. Advanced sessions is very simular but will be more one to one working on manouvers contest training and fitness for surfing.

The age range will be 8 to 80 and I'll hopefully be working with schools I want surfing to be a pe lesson, and hopeing to get stag and hen doos, work with local clubs and basically everyone in the Vale .

How did I get this far?
I got where I am today with a lot of backing from my mum and dad and my sponsors before I was sponsored my mum and dad took me to Bali to compete all over the UK. Hawaii, California , I was very lucky but dad had a lot of passion in sport as he was a professional rugby player and he knew I could do well, he used to stand in the rain for hours filming me surf that's how I got to improve a lot quicker than other guys I grew up with. When your out there you think your ripping until you watch yourself on film and realise your kooking it, video analysis is the best way to imporve your surfing.

What drives me? 
Just being at the beach everyday drives me on sufring good waves. There is a great bunch of lads down Llantwit beach and the standard is very high amongst us everyones trying to out do each other and theres a lot of good banter amongst us, and it would be great to meet new people and pass on the passion I have for the sport and make people leave the beach with a massive smile on their face.
