Champagne Gourmet Evening

Steve Astbury from Laurent Perrier hosted a Gourmet Evening, with fine champagne and a sumptuous five course dinner at Miskin Manor on Thursday 21 October.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, expertly prepared in-house by Head Chef Mark Beck and his team, complimented by fine champagne from Laurent Perrier, and rose displays from David Austin Roses.

English-Speaking Union Lunch

Former Secretary of State for Wales, Lord Hunt of Wirral, made a welcome return as Chairman of the English-Speaking Union when he spoke at the Lunch held at the Cardiff City Stadium following the AGM of the South Wales Branch.

The occasion provided the opportunity for Lord Hunt to renew acquaintance with many friends made during his time in Wales and he warmly congratulated members on the way in which they had established such a thriving and enthusiastic Branch in a short space of time.

High Sheriffs' Gala Dinner

Glamorgan High Sheriffs, Anne Campbell, Beverley Humphreys and Rowland Jones hosted a Gala Dinner in the The Great Hall of Howell's School, Llandaff to support the South Wales Police Youth Trust which was started by retired Chief Constable Barbara Wilding with the aim of diverting youngsters from crime.

Organiser Anne Morgan was delighted by the success of the event, and Chief Constable Peter Vaughan and Trust Chairman Adrian Oliver thanked everyone involved with special thanks to Beverley for the evening's entertainment.
