Women's Arts Association art exhibition
Feb 19th to Mar 15th

Barry Library Art Gallery is the venue this month for an exciting art exhibition hosted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, featuring 40 pieces of artwork created by members of the Women's Arts Association which was founded in 1984.

The event is part of the WAA's 'Synchronicity' series, and is intended to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8th.

The underlying theme for the presentation this year is 'literature', and the artworks are inspired by poems and written works of many kinds.

The standard of the pieces on display is truly excellent and quite thought provoking.

On Saturday 16th. February, the exhibition was initiated by a private preview.

In accord with the nature of the organisation and the exhibition theme, Professor Deidre Beddoe, the well known author, historian, broadcaster and Chairperson of the Women's Welsh Archives was the guest.

She spoke engagingly about historical aspects of Wales, including some evocative images of Welsh history, and illustrated her talk with pen portraits of her two very different, but both undeniably Welsh, grandmothers.

Professor Beddoe finished by giving a brief literary reading from one of her books.

The exhibition continues until Saturday March 15th, 11am to 4pm daily.
