VALEWIDE
Story of the Priddles journey to south Wales

This book is far more than just one person's family history. It looks at the social conditions that existed and huge changes that were taking place in Britain during the nineteenth Century.

It's not the quaint Victorian England chocolate box story, but the harsh reality of life for farm workers in Somerset during this period. Myths, legends and tradition are interwoven with one family's struggle to survive during these times of enormous change. The Meeting of Dragons also looks at how a range of circumstance and industrial developments brought about mass migration from Somerset to south Wales that has affected the social make up of these lands to the present day.

Bob Priddle is a college lecturer and has had numerous articles connected with horticulture. He has also written the biography of the landscape architect Ralph Hancock for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

As well as writing, Bob is a popular public speaker, speaking on subjects as varied as gardening, goal setting and the history of the American west. Bob is also Vale Life's resident garden expert.
