If you’re anything like me, you’ll buy the wrong make-up and apply
it badly!

Have You Been Colourprinted
I’ve got four separate make-up bags full of various brands of foundations, none of which suit my skin. So when I was offered
a Prescriptives Colourprint session, I jumped at the chance.
Firstly, the make-up artist determined my skin’s undertone and then found my exact foundation shade to match it. The shades range from pale ivory to deep ebony. Yellow/Orange (that’s me), Red/Orange, Red, and Red/Blue. When I was shown the four different colour ranges, I could see immediately which family of colour I belonged to. I was then asked which type of coverage I wanted. I could choose from light, medium or heavy.
I could also choose whether I wanted anti- ageing properties or one with light- reflecting particles. I opted for medium with no added extras.
I was then told an invaluable secret - never apply foundation with your fingers or a sponge (I confessed to the latter). Apparently your fingers carry oils and bacteria which will give you spots and a sponge absorbs
a lot of the foundation which means you waste most of it. Umm. . . sponge - it does what it says on the tin really! Instead I was told to use a brush which Prescriptives sell. It’s a bit pricey but it spreads the foundation evenly around your face. However, you need to use a gentle soap to wash it out every week otherwise it defeats the object of it being sanitary.
To give me the full effect I also topped off the foundation with the Custom Blend loose powder, which felt cool on application. This powder could also be customised to include oil control, moisture rich or firming benefits plus a shimmer or matte bronzing. It also helps to minimise the look of lines, wrinkles and pores. What more could a girl ask for?
A little lip gloss finished the look. Not one for blowing my own trumpet,
I thought I looked quite pretty. Even my husband paid me a compliment, and believe me I have to fight for those these days! Now that I’m armed with my colour range, at least I know which beauty counter to visit and which colours suit me. All I need to do now is try to recreate that look.

Custom Blend Foundation is available exclusively at Howells, House
of Fraser, Cardiff for £45.00 (30ml). This includes a complimentary
5ml refillable travel size bottle.

DINAS POWYS
What not to wear
City PA Director, Deborah Meredith, whose offices are in Sully and who lives in Dinas Powys has made it through to the finalist of the popular BBC’s ‘What Not To Wear’ programme.
Deborah applied for the programme as she felt her wardrobe of traditional straight dress, pencil skirt or trouser suit with shoulder pads wasn’t appropriate. What she wanted was a new look to match her cutting edge Virtual PA company.
As we go to press Deborah is waiting to hear whether she makes it through to the final selection.
