Roundabout ruination

Dear VL,
I rarely complain about anything but the relentless march of small advertising signs on roundabouts across the Vale is making my blood boil. Why do we need roundabouts sponsored or ‘supported’? Besides the obvious safety issue here, they look awful. We have more than enough ‘street furniture’and I would hope that the planners would be seeking a reduction rather than an increase. Is this practice really worthwhile? I, for one, would be interested to know the price one would have to pay to remove them.

On a positive note, I do like the new black place name signs but wondered why Llantwit Major’s is blue. Can anyone shed any light on that?

The great milk debate

Dear VL,
I thought the debate in Cowbridge town Hall held recently was excellent.

It was very pleasing to see such a good turn out, which I believe highlights the level of concern and interest that there is for the Welsh dairy industry.

Farmers in Wales are very grateful to the W. I. for the support they are giving our industry and are very aware that consumer pressure is one of the most valuable tools dairy farmers have on their side for achieving a fair share of the market price for their produce.

I feel Tesco used the opportunity well for yet more self promotion and spin! However I think the majority of the audience could see through to the true fact that Tesco and the other large retailers are creaming off the profits generated from the hard work the rest of the supply chain put in to dairy production.

You’re the business

Dear Jennifer,
When you came to The Business Centre looking for advertisers for your new magazine, our first thought was oh no not another publication! However when you outlined your vision for Vale Life magazine we were impressed with the idea.

The magazine is of a very high quality and we believe it is exactly what the Vale of Glamorgan needs. We are proud to advertise with you. You have produced brilliant ideas for us and we are delighted to recommend you to our clients at The Business Centre and hope other local companies will support your new venture. We wish you the very best!
