Nucleus Healthcare, a brand new state-of-the-art specialist gastroenterology clinic has been officially opened at Celtic Springs Business Park, Newport.

The unit has a team of thirty, consisting of five specialist consultants, experienced nurses and administrative staff.Nucleus Healthcare is the only private gastroenterology unit in the UK, providing services such as capsule endoscopy, pH manometry studies and many more leading edge investigations.

The 27,000 sq ft unit has two endoscopy theatres, ten en-suite rooms, dedicated out patient areas, teaching and research facilities over two floors.

The specialist unit deals with many illnesses which patients often find embarrassing or difficult to talk about, Nucleus Healthcare is the UK’s first clinic to specialise in this way and focuses on expert diagnosis and treatment of all problems relating to the digestive system.

These include relatively common conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac and crohns disease, as well as detailed procedures which screen for bowel cancer, gall bladder, liver disease and other associated problems related to digestion.

Speaking about the centre, unit manager, Luba Srivastava, whose husband, Dr Manny Srivastava founded Nucleus Healthcare and is chief executive and clinical director, said:

“What we’ve aimed to do is create a centre of excellence that is completely designed with the patient’s needs in mind. We’re fully aware that we’re dealing with subjects that people might not want to talk about openly.
