If you’re anything like me, you dream of flying off to distant shores but doesn’t the thought of dragging yourselves and your children on a four hour trip to Heathrow or Gatwick with the usual traffic jams, frequent delays, high transport costs and crowded terminals put you off? Thanks to THG Holidays this is now a thing of the past.

Making that dream a reality is now possible thanks to south Wales based tour operator THG Holidays. They have teamed up with Cardiff Airport to launch a new Worldwide programme based on flying from Cardiff Airport for Winter 2008/9 and beyond.

We chatted to Elise Howells, an existing THG Holidays customer, to see how her dream holiday came true by booking through THG Holidays.

Why did you choose THG Holidays?
Through personal recommendation. A friend of mine has used THG Holidays a few times in the past and had always been really pleased with the holidays that they had booked for her.

What was the most important requirement for your holiday?
I wanted to fly from my nearest regional airport which is Cardiff. As we were flying to a long haul destination, I didn’t want the hassle of a long journey to the aiport and I knew that when we got back after a long flight, I’d just want to get home as quickly as possible.

Did you have a destination in mind?
I did have a destination in mind but I received a lot of excellent advice from the sales consultant who questioned my holiday preferences and matched three resorts to my requirements. I stayed three nights in Bangkok for sightseeing, shopping and nightlife, seven nights in Krabi for beach, relaxation and island trips and finally three nights in Hua Hin for night market, shopping and evening entertainment. All the hotels recommended to me were spot on in terms of location, service and standard.



How did you know their choice of hotels would be suitable for you?
They assured me that all of the hotels featured in their brochure had been visited by at least one member of their staff and met their strict criteria before they gained the THG Holidays seal of approval. My friend had also said that she had been delighted with the hotel that they had chosen for her.

Was it easy to book the holiday?
It was all done over the phone. THG Holidays were very efficient and came back to me with a confirmed cost and itinerary that matched my requirements.

What did you like about booking with THG Holidays?
The customer service was second to none, the staff were extremely friendly. They matched my holiday requirements accurately and made sure that I was given tips and advice. They also booked executive lounge passes for me in Cardiff and Bangkok which was an excellent start and finish to the holiday. In addition, they even booked car parking for me at Cardiff so I literally had nothing to do myself.

Did they give you any useful tips?
On their recommendation I took my husband to the Lebua State Tower in Bangkok for the best views of the city at night and we visited the Grand Palace which was spectacular. The service I received in the resort was excellent. We were met at the airport and transferred to our hotel where we were assisted with check in and given contact details by our representative who also was able to arrange additional trips for us and was just a quick call away if we needed them.

This all sounds expensive and did the change over in Amsterdam
put you off?
I looked at pricing flights and accommodation myself but this worked out more expensive, it was easier and more cost effective to book as a package and THG offered me the best price in the market. The change over in Amsterdam was very easy as Schiphol airport is superb and sign posted well. It was nice to stretch your legs and have a drink between flights. I would prefer this than the inconvenience of flying from a London airport.

Would you use THG Holidays to book another holiday?
Absolutely! In fact my husband and I are discussing dates for our next trip and are considering the USA or a South China Cruise and will be contacting THG Holidays again to arrange it.
