The era of the ripped jeans and scruffy t-shirt is dead. Welcome to the new dawn of the sharp dressed, sophisticated male.

STAY SHARP

With more quality designer names than you can shake the sharpest of sticks at, Giorgio’s, on High Street in Barry is the new shrine for the modern man looking to turn on the style.

Vale Life took time out to speak with owner, George Watters about his passion for Italian fashion and the ethos behind his new venture, Giorgio’s.

Why have you opened Giorgio’s?
I believe that there is nowhere else in Barry or, indeed, the Vale of Glamorgan where you can buy the kind of quality Italian tailoring that we offer at Giorgio’s.

What brands will you stock?
At the moment I stock Hagga, Gabicci, Jupiter, Scott Suits, City Survival Suits and Paolo Vandini shoes. Quite soon I will be adding to this collection with Hackett, Ralph Lauren, Duck and Cover and Gio Gio.

How do you source your brands?
I have travelled extensively over the years and have a particular love of Italian clothing.

Who will your customers be?
Style conscious men of all ages, both local and from further afield. We’re not aiming to be a niche market but to provide high quality fashion and to be accessible to all ages.

What do you think are the musthave items for the season?
Definitely a good quality suit. The age of the ripped jeans and scruffy t-shirt is dead, thankfully. Men now want to look smart and there’s no better way to achieve this than with a good quality suit. That’s not to say it can’t be dressed down. A good look is also a suit jacket worn with a casual plain top and smart/casual leather loafers.

Will you be offering anything else?
We are working with a company in Broad Street who can make alterations very quickly so we can offer all of our customers tailoring if required.

“Giorgio’s has a fantastic range of suits, casual wear, leather jackets and briefcases. There is also a superb range of gifts for all ages and for every occasion.”
