I’m interested in breast
enhance - ment but don’t want to have surgery.
Are there other options?
Yes there are. There is a new method of injecting a safe gel-like matrix of a substance that is found naturally within the body to enhance the size and shape of your breasts. The results are instant but unlike silicone implants the results do not last forever. If you are interested in breast enhancement it would be worth discussing both options with a qualified surgeon.

How do I know about the qualification and experience of the Cosmetic Surgeons?
All our Cosmetic Consultant Surgeons are highly qualified and experienced in cosmetic procedures. They are all registered on the Specialist Register of Plastic Surgeons with the General Medical Council, and are members of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).

How do I book a consultation with a Consultant Surgeon, and what happens afterwards?
You can book an initial consultation by contacting our appointments department on 029 2083 6799. At the consultation, the consultant will tell you everything you need to know about the procedure so you can make an informed decision about whether to go ahead. While we can arrange the operation during this consultation, we encourage you to take a two-week ‘cooling off’ period, so that you can be 100% sure that you want to go ahead with the procedure.

VALE
New cosmetic treatments available

Vale Healthcare’s Cosmetic Clinic offers a range of surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic treatments in a friendly, caring and professional environment.

The Cosmetics Clinic is led by Consultant Surgeons including Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Kelvin Gomez. We talk to Kelvin about the current buzz around non-surgical Cosmetic treatments, and how he enjoys his professional life as a Cosmetic Surgeon…

What’s your background and how did you get into Cosmetic Surgery?
I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and educated in Malaysia, Australia and the UK, so you can say that I had a very cosmopolitan upbringing. I then trained at Cardiff University, did my postgraduate doctorate at the Cardiff Academic Breast Unit and undertook a Fellowship at the Welsh Burns and Plastics Surgery Unit in Morriston, prior to accepting my current post as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon.

Are there specific areas of Cosmetics that interest you more than others?
My special cosmetic interests include Non-Surgical Breast Augmentation, Breast and Body Sculpting, Male Chest and Calf Enhancement and Facial Fillers. There are a host of new products out on the market that will help so many more people, and the treatments are all getting less invasive, which is always great news for our patients.

What ’s the hype around nonsurgical cosmetic enhancement?

Non-surgical cosmetic procedures allow people to enhance their appearance without going under the knife. With breast enhancement specifically it is less expensive, less invasive, and the results are instant but unlike surgery the results do not last forever.

If you are interested in breast enhancement it would be worth discussing both options with a qualified surgeon, as some patients may suit one option more than another.

And when you’re not in the operating theatre, what do you do to relax and unwind?
During the limited time I have away from surgery, I love playing a round or two of golf. My fiancée and I also love to travel and try to fit in one or two holidays a year. Our next big trip is a mountainous trek in Bhutan sometime at the end of the year and we’re really looking forward to it.
