And the sun shone! Sandwiched between rainy days, Daniel, son of David and Jane Maggs of Barry and Emily, daughter of Peter and Jayne Bowles of Dinas Powys made their vows in the picturesque Parish Church of St. Andrews Major on the 7.7.07 (hopefully Daniel will never forget their anniversary date).

Mrs Emily Maggs talks to Vale Life about their choice of venue.

“The choice of venue was quite an easy one as I went to school in Cowbridge so this meant that The Bear had a special meaning to us. Also, as Daniel and I had been guests at a wedding there, we knew that the Bear could offer us everything we wanted for our special day. The new function room offered us a lovely inside venue if the weather turned out to be a typically Welsh summer’s day. However there were two delightful courtyards if the weather was kind and on the day both were much appreciated.

From our first visit we felt confident that The Bear were going to give us a day to remember. This helped us to relax and to enjoy the preparations.

On our wedding day the staff guided us effortlessly, greeting our guests, the wedding breakfast, cutting the cake and through to the evening disco. The food was excellent and there were even plenty of choices for our veggie friends! Finally, when the day was over we were able to retire to our romantic room complete with four poster bed overlooking the beautiful courtyard, courtesy of The Bear. Perfect!
